Peer Pressure... The Postive Kind

In the glow of my post marathon high I decided that I wanted to run at least 3 half marathons this year. I texted my friend who is a big runner and asked if she would be willing to run one with me. I already had one in mind - the Rock N Roll Half in San Jose. It fit my time frame - about 4 months in between races to know that I was A-Ok in the recovery department. Being someone who is a casual runner and not totally crazy when it comes to runners diet, I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time to recover before tackling another race.

Then my friend came back with wanting to run the half in Las Vegas... Same series [the Rock n Roll] and a little later in the year so it still felt my schedule. It was a little pricey, but it was VEGAS! So of course I was interested in participating. So I started looking into the costs and preparing myself for a very cold race [I have read re-caps of previous races where head wind tends to be a monster].

Fast forward a few days and my husband's friend, Mr. Super Marathon man [he wants to complete a marathon in every state... He is a rock star] let me know of a potential coupon coming up. I let him know that I was thinking about doing Vegas instead with my bestie... And here is where it all got started. Both Mr. Super Marathon Man and my best friend decided that it would be fun for me to run both... A mere 6 weeks apart. I laughed them off as being completely crazy - I am not super woman and therefore would need much more than 6 weeks to recover in between races. I was ready to chalk it up as silly when Mr. Super Marathon Man gave me a carrot... A big, delicious, extremely tempting carrot... If you complete more than 1 Rock N Roll series race in a year, you get a special medal.

Needless to say, I am seriously considering doing this craziness. I was really sad that I would not able to get the Disney Coast to Coast medal [which is where I think my hubby friend's got this idea] and so to get a special medal for completing two races seems just too tempting.... I am worried about the lag time in between the races - especially because after the Tink I took an entire week off from running - and scared that the Vegas run will kick my butt in the process.

So dear readers... What do you think? To run or not to run - that is the question!
